Over the past few weeks, I’ve posted a lot of sweet bacon-y dessert recipes to make for a bacon-themed movie viewing party (see the links at the bottom of this recipe for more info). These days, we’re all staying home and staying safe, but you can still celebrate in the coziness of your own home! This week, the recipes I’m posting are savory!
This Cheesy Bacon BBQ Crunch Dip is a rich, creamy appetizer that can be served warm with crackers or bread. You won’t be able to stop with just one bite. Give this recipe a try. It’s “bacon” me crazy, and you’ll love it, too!
For dip mixture:
2 8-ounce blocks of cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 cup diced peppers
1 cup chopped green onions
1 cup shredded manchego cheese
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
For dip topping:
2 cups crushed butter crackers
4 Tbsp butter, melted
1 cup shredded parmesan
3 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/2 cup green onion for garnish
Barbecue sauce for drizzling over top of dip
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
First, prepare your bacon.
For extra crispy bacon, microwave slices on a plate between layers of paper towels. Heat them on high for 4-5 minutes. You can also skillet cook them.
Let your crispy bacon cool. Then, crumble it into small bits and set it aside.
Next, in a large bowl, mix softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise together.
Stir in diced pepper, chopped onions, bacon bits, and cheddar and manchego cheese.
Scoop your mixture into a deep baking dish.
Next, prepare your dip topping.
First, crush the butter crackers.
Next, stir in the melted butter, parmesan cheese, and bacon bits.
Stir the ingredients. Then, top the cream cheese mixture with them.
Lastly, drizzle the mixture with barbecue sauce.
Bake the dip in the oven for 20-30 minutes. Once the mixture is bubbly and hot, remove it from the oven.
Garnish the dip with a sprinkling of green onions.
Serve the dip warm with butter crackers or fresh Italian or French bread.
This savory dip is chock full of cheesy, bacon-y deliciousness! It’s the perfect appetizer for “You’re Bacon Me Crazy” movie night.
