YOU’RE BACON ME CRAZY Bacon-Bits Brownie Recipe

This Recipe’s Bacon Your Dreams Come True

The countdown to the Hallmark Channel movie, “You’re Bacon Me Crazy,” has begun! The movie premieres on Saturday, April 4th, at 9 P.M./8 Central, only three and a half weeks from now! It’s adapted from my Scholastic middle-grade novel, You’re Bacon Me Crazy.

Here’s the Hallmark Channel’s fun video teaser for the movie starring Natalie Hall and Michael Rady:

In the movie, Chef Cleo (Natalie Hall) has a foodie face-off with handsome food truck rival (Michael Rady), but will she win the battle or lose her heart? Tune into this movie full of foodie fun and romance to find out!

And what better way to watch the movie than with a dreamy brownie topped with caramel and bacon bliss!

Bacon-Bits Brownies

Bake up a batch of these Bacon-Bits Brownies for your movie night!

Ingredients

1 Tbsp butter or cooking spray for greasing pan

1/2 cup flour

1/4 Tsp baking powder

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup granulated sugar

1 Tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 eggs

12 vanilla caramels

1 Tbsp milk

4-5 strips bacon, chopped

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9 x 9 baking pan.

Next, prepare your bacon.

For extra crispy bacon, I microwave slices on a plate between layers of paper towels. I heat them on high for 4-5 minutes. You can also skillet cook them.

Let your crispy bacon cool. Then, crumble it into small bits.

Next, combine your flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder in a bowl. Set it aside.

With a hand-held mixer, combine your sugar, vanilla, and vegetable oil.

Add in the eggs, beating until creamy.

Mix the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until well blended.

Now, pour your batter into the baking pan. Set it aside.

Creamy Caramel-Bacon Topping

It’s time to make your caramel topping!

First, heat vanilla caramels and a splash of milk in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir the caramels constantly until they’re melted.

Drizzle the caramel sauce over your brownie batter. Then, sprinkle bacon bits over top.

Bake the brownies for 20-25 minutes and remove from the oven.

You can wait for your brownies to cool. Or…if you’re like me, you’ll be diving into them while they’re still gooey and warm.

Cut yourself a Bacon-Bits Brownie and cozy up in your favorite spot to watch “You’re Bacon Me Crazy.” Invite a few Hallmark Hearties friends to share in the movie fun!
