YOU’RE BACON ME CRAZY BLT Recipe

In just three days, the Hallmark Channel movie “You’re Bacon Me Crazy” premieres on April 4th, 9 P.M./8 C!

I’m thrilled to watch the movie, especially because it’s based on my Scholastic book, You’re Bacon Me Crazy.

Chef Cleo (Natalie Hall) has a foodie face-off with food truck rival Gabe (Michael Rady). Cleo’s spirited niece Tessa (Olivia Steele Falconer) cheers on Cleo as she battles for her business and her heart. Check out the movie preview here:

I’m planning a bacon-themed buffet for my family as we stay home and stay safe, and I’m so excited!

To get in the mood for a bacon movie bonanza, try this scrumptious recipe for BLT sandwiches with special sauce!

The special sauce for this recipe comes straight from my book, You’re Bacon Me Crazy. In the book, it’s main character Tessa’s secret ingredient to Cleo’s famous BLT.

Ingredients for Tessa’s Special Sauce

1 avocado

1/4 Tsp garlic salt

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 Tbsp lemon juice

1 Tbsp Dijon mustard

1 Tsp chipotle pepper

1 Tsp crushed or finely chopped bacon

Directions for Sauce

First, prepare your bacon.

For extra crispy bacon, microwave slices on a plate between layers of paper towels. Heat them on high for 4-5 minutes. You can also skillet cook them.

Let your crispy bacon cool. Then, crumble it into small bits and set it aside.

Bacon

Mash one avocado with a fork or handheld mixer until it’s a fine, creamy consistency.

Next, add in garlic salt, sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and chipotle pepper.

Blend well. Stir in the bacon bits.

Spread the sauce on your BLT, and enjoy! This recipe makes enough sauce for about ten BLTs.

Ingredients For the BLT

2 slices multi-grain or eight-grain bread, toasted

2-3 slices freshly cooked bacon (I cooked mine into heart shapes!)

2-3 leaves romaine lettuce, washed and dried

1-2 Tbsp Tessa’s special sauce

Directions

First, cook your bacon. I cook mine between layers of paper towels on a plate in the microwave. I like extra-crispy bacon and cook it for about 4-5 minutes in the microwave.

If you want to get really creative and mold your bacon into heart shapes, go for it! Take a slice of bacon and gently twist it.

Then carefully shape it into a heart on the paper towel and cook it.

Next, toast two slices of multi-grain or eight-grain bread.

Slice one fresh tomato.

If you’d rather roast a tomato, slice your tomato, drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and bake in the oven for 25 minutes at 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

Tear one or two leaves of romaine lettuce and set aside. Put your bread slices on a plate (I used a sandwich cutter to make mine into heart shapes. Sooooo cute!).

Spread 1-2 tbsp of Tessa’s special sauce on the bread.

Finally, add bacon, lettuce, and tomato.

This BLT Is Bacon Me Crazy!

This is the perfect savory sandwich to enjoy while you watch Cleo and Gabe in their food truck face-off on the Hallmark Channel!
